XQuantum™ XML Database Server
Integrating XQuery with Internet Standards
XQuantum is a new breed of database server that uses XQuery to search
information stored as XML. It is designed from the ground up to integrate
XQuery search, with open Internet standards.
XML is an extremely versatile way of storing information, including books, business and accounting records, relational tables, and scientific data.
XQuery was designed by the World Wide Web Consortium, W3C specifically for searching XML. The result is a twenty-first century query language capable of searching both data and information. It is both analytic and symbolic.
Architecture
In order to make this technology readily accessible from your operating environment, we have integrated XQuery with its own HTTP web server:

Architecture for the XML Database Server
An application or client wishing to access XML data makes an HTTP request containing the query as part of the URL; the server then returns the result as an XML stream. Your web browser immediately becomes an ad-hoc query tool. The API's needed to access XQuantum are already available in most programming environments.
Performance
XQuantum is designed for large XML data stores. It uses advanced recursive XML indexing, combined with ground-breaking query optimization, to provide fast data access for both navigational and batch queries. Lazy query evaluation is combined with stream processing to reduce the memory footprint of large query result sets. (learn more).
Productivity
XQuantum lets you build applications using high levels of abstraction resulting in fewer lines of code. Applications can often be built using just queries, style sheets, and web pages, along with our innovative XQuery Server Pages for dynamic content.
XQuantum greatly simplifies database administration by making indexing independent of database schema definition, which is optional.
Static type checking helps you find query errors early on in the development process>.
XQuantum's type system is based on simple yet powerful regular expression types, (learn more).
Getting Started
XQuantum comes up running with several sample applications, which you can explore with your browser. There are dozens of pages of sample queries, application files and associated XML datafiles. The product ships with an extensive user's manual and a product CD, which includes additional documentation and code samples for Java, C++, C#, and VB.
To help you get started, we have released a thirty-day free trial version of XQuantum available for immediate download (learn more).
How to Buy
XQuantum is available to customers in the United States, Canada, and EU countries. You can purchase XQuantum by telephone or fax (learn more).
